You need quite a few things in an emergency bag: 

  • - a first aid manual
  • emergency phone #s
  • adhesive tape and bandages
  • band aids (all kinds)
  • antiseptic wipes and sprays
  • antibiotic ointment
  • splint
  • hydrogen peroxide or another antiseptic solution
  • soap
  • tweezers
  • scissors (sharp ones)
  • CPR mouthpiece/guard
  • calamine lotion
  • prescription meds (if you're taking the kit somewhere)
  • aspirine and ibuprofen
  • elastic bandage
  • sterile gauze pads (various sizes)
  • safety pins
  • alcohol wipes 
  • thermometer
  • non-latex gloves (2-5 pair)
  • hydrocortisone cream (1%)
  • calamine lotion
  • instant cold packs
  • blanket
  • flashlight and batteries
  • needle and fishing wire
  • tooth preservation kit
