These are the basics!

Water (1 gallon per day)
Food
Flashlight (a good one!)
Emergency Radio
First Aid Kit (a nice one - the cheap ones have junk products!)
Whistle
Heavy duty garbage bags (for sooo many reasons - like a toilet liner if the water goes out)
Baby wipes
Twist ties
Maps
Wrench
Duct tape
Plastic sheets
Charging batteries
Leatherman (or at least a wrench or pliers)
Emergency tents
Plastic sheeting
